Educational Videos

Reptilia’s involvement with students and teachers in the classroom goes well beyond providing lessons with live animals. Our film division is now producing a series of educational videos that are linked to the curriculum materials students are learning about in class.

Teachers are required to teach more science based curriculum to students without effective resource materials. Reptilia’s goal is to provide a product that can be unwrapped and put to direct use in the classroom with very little preparation time needed on the part of the teacher. We’ve done the research, now students and teachers can enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Each educational video has a theme such as adaptation or the senses and sense organs. The videos are organized into several 8-10 minute segments that can be used as a stand alone video sequence or shown in series for a longer period. Lesson plans and worksheets accompany each video segment so teachers can use a series of 8-10 minute video segments, lesson plans, and worksheets to provide several lessons about a particular topic. Reptilia has selected topics and organized content to ensure that provincial and state curriculum requirements are met. The first videos will be available in the fall of 2000 with more being produced and added to the library on a continuing basis.
Reptilia has completed two 45 minute videos. One for students in grade two that focuses on reptiles and how they differ from other vertebrate groups. The second video discusses habitats and adaptations that animals may have. This video is for use in grade four classes.

Some clips and worksheets from the two completed videos can be downloaded below:
