A Home Renovation for Friday the Asian Water Monitor!

November 12, 2017

A Serious Home Renovation for Friday the Asian Water Monitor!

Asian water monitors are one of the world’s biggest lizard species. As babies, they spend significant time climbing, but as adults, they are primarily terrestrial. Reptilia is committed to providing ideal care for our animal’s throughout their lives and thus must meet their needs at various life stages.

Friday has recently turned eight years old and is exiting his ‘teenage’ years. He is starting to fill out and become an adult and needs more terrestrial space without any difficult climbing challenges.

Asian water monitors provide an especially tough challenge when designing an exhibit, as they tend to be highly destructive to elements such as foliage. However, we were able to design an exhibit that both meets his needs and can stand up to the wear and tear of a giant lizard!

See Friday eat every Sunday morning at 11:45 am and see him in his newly renovated exhibit!
