Reptilia Volunteer & Co-Op Program
Are you thinking of pursuing a career in animal husbandry and care? Are you interested in animals in general and want to gain hands-on experience? Reptilia’s Volunteer & Co-Op Program provides quality experiences to interested individuals.
Volunteer Info
Typically the program length is determined by the number of hours the individual or organization is required to fulfill. For students this can range from 40 hours to over 100 hours.
Volunteers typically students above the age of 16. The individual’s skills and abilities will be taken into account before being accepted into the program, and acceptance is solely at the discretion of the Program Coordinator.

Co-op Info
Approximately 5 Months, depending on the required amounts of credits.
Co-Op participants are typically students above the age of 16 that are currently enrolled in a credit course (2 or 4 credits).

Available Hands-On Experience
Hands-on experience is a privilege to our Volunteer Cast and will be accessed based on individual skill and attitude. The level of experience our Volunteers gain is equal to their level of commitment to the Reptilia Standard of Animal Stewardship and Care.
Some of the experiences you may have with us are:
- Appropriate husbandry and care for a limited range of our extensive collection of our 500 animals spanning over 130 different species
- Aiding in meal preparation for common reptiles
- Participation in Reptilia’s ongoing research projects
- Discussions on Animal Welfare and Care
- Develop useful knowledge of common reptiles
- Organization of educational materials
- Beginner-level strategies for reptile care
- Zoo exhibit maintenance
